21 Musical Numbers: Bonnie and Clyde

This evening I saw a high school production of the musical Bonnie and Clyde, which has 20 musical numbers. The 21st musical number I saw yesterday was performed by my very own high schooler, who is nuts for musical theater and has been dancing and singing for basic communication purposes for a few years now. Example: “Hey, have you walked the dog, kid?” Kid: ball change, chasse, shimmy, “Mammaaaa,” jazz hands, kick, ball change, “I walked the dooooog.” Even if she’s not dancing her way to the kitchen, she’s singing out her activities or current situation. Example: “This pear is cold now, yeaaaaaaaah.” When she is grown and moved up, I’m going to miss the musical-numbers-as-daily-communication the most.
